Your Teeth Now
Your teeth are really important and taking care of them keeps you healthy. Let your mom or dad brush your teeth in the morning when you wake up and right before you go to sleep. It is really important that you brush your teeth after drinking sugary drinks or eating candy.
Oral Health At This Age
Children can experience oral health problems before they have even entered Kindergarten.
- These can include:
- Baby Bottle tooth decay
- Thumb sucking
- Tongue thrusting
- Lip sucking
- Early tooth loss
- Trauma from accidents
Even though baby teeth will be replaced by permanent teeth eventually, it is important to keep baby teeth and gums healthy throughout your child’s development.
Brushing your child’s teeth twice a day, until they are old enough to do so on their own, and regular dental cleanings can protect the health of your child’s teeth and gums. Regular, bi-annual dental cleanings can begin when your child turns 1.
